Allison Benway joined Chico & Nunes, P.C. in July of 2008. She concentrates her practice in regulatory matters and in the area of zoning and land use. Ms. Benway represents public utilities before the Illinois Commerce Commission, handling matters such as rate increases, billing disputes, cost recovery riders, and smart grid modernization.
Previously, Ms. Benway served as Legal Counsel to Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich from 2005 through 2008. In that position, she served as the Governor's Office Freedom of Information Act Officer, assisted with litigation brought against the Governor, and counseled the Governor on executive clemency petitions, state constitutional matters, and audit issues.
Representative Matters
- Obtained all necessary City approval processes for the mixed-use redevelopment of a 20 acre site on the City's southeast side, including approvals for a planned development, a negotiated sale, street and alley vacations and dedications, and a plat of subdivision.
- Represented a major rental car company in government relations issues.
- Counseled major waste management company in meeting reporting and registration requirements under Illinois law.
- Counseled a global communications, IT, and security solutions company in government relations issues.
